U SEW GIRL

Services

Sewing Classes are for beginners. Suitable for Adults and Children 8years* and older (*Adult must be present). The classes are a total of 8hours. 2 hour lessons each week preferably for 4 consecutive weeks. But can be flexible. Lessons can also be done more than once a week if desired. You choose your start date. You may also choose to share your sewing class with a friend. I recommend not having more than 3 persons for each class since you will not get total personal attention.

I come to your home and give personalized attention to each person and we sew at your level and at your speed. I also have 2 sewing machines for those that do not have one. They are free to use for your first 2 months of lessons. After that you will need to decide to purchase your own machine or continue to use my machines for a small  maintenance fee of $5.00 per class.

First Lesson
For your first 2 hour lesson, we will go over sewing machine basics: review the parts of the sewing machine, practice threading the bobbin and the machine. Maintenance of the sewing machine and practice basic sewing stitches. If you have these skills already we will only touch on them briefly. We will discuss the second week lesson. C
hildren will make a pillow or tote bag for their first project. Adults will make a skirt, tote bag or apron. We can also discuss other possibilities.

Second Lesson
We will  briefly review the first lesson and discuss sewing terms often used. If you want personal help buying your sewing tools, we can take a trip to the fabric store. You will learn about the sewing tools you purchased and learn how to read layout and cut a pattern.
